Exploring Puerto Rico: Waterfalls, Beaches, and Hidden Gems!

Join us on our Puerto Rico adventure!
We started at El Salto waterfall, explored the Centro Ceremonial Indígena de Tibes Museum, and visited Vela’s Beach Villa (not our favorite—too many dogs!). We toured the historic Castillo Serrallés in Ponce, relaxed at the beautiful Cabañas Marivan Beach (5 stars!), and stopped by the iconic Parque de Bombas firehouse. We also explored the beaches near El Yunque National Forest and ended our trip on a stunning final beach. A beautiful journey from waterfalls to coastlines!
At Skydeck Chicago, we stood on The Ledge, towering over the city at 1,353 feet in the Willis Tower—once the tallest building in the world, designed by the same firm behind Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

On the architecture boat tour, we learned about contextual architecture, especially in buildings like Trump Tower. Its design steps back in levels to complement the skyline—like a lock shaped perfectly for a key, or the way a man and woman are created to bring balance, not competition. That thought stuck with me.

As my wife and I journeyed through this city, we found more than beauty—we found perspective. We were reminded that thoughtful structure brings peace, that rest creates room for love, and that travel isn’t just escape—it’s transformation.

We ended our day at the Museum of Science and Industry, where curiosity reigns and wonder lives. Every part of the day, from heights to history, helped shape how we want to build our lives—with beauty, grace, and space for what matters most.

We kicked things off at the Skydeck in Willis Tower, where we faced our fears on The Ledge and learned about its surprising connection to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Then, we cruised through the heart of the city on the Chicago Architecture Boat Tour, soaking up stories behind the skyline.

To top it all off, we explored the Museum of Science and Industry—a wonderland of innovation and discovery, from submarines to space travel.

We fueled up with some of the best jerk chicken you’ll ever taste, stopped by Megamart for a local shopping experience, and made a powerful visit to Bob Marley’s mausoleum—a moment we’ll never forget. We wrapped up the trip watching the sun melt into the ocean at Sunset Beach.
